The Philippines is a nation rich with textiles made from natural materials. The ingenuity of using the wealth of plants to create fabrics and home goods is ingrained in the culture and varies dramatically across the country, from luxuriously embroidered silk-like piña, derived from the pineapple plant, to humble banig mats made from grasses and reeds. Each region specializes and takes pride in their unique styles, materials, and designs.
